Huntington Gardens

On the first Thursday of every month, admission is free to the Huntington Institute. You just have to reserve your tickets on the first day of the previous month. I’ve been wanting to take Miss R to the gardens, so I reserved our tickets in November, and on December 1 we finally got to go.

I visited the Huntington as a teenager, but I had forgotten how big the gardens were, and how beautiful. Miss R and I had a wonderful time roaming the grounds. I even took her to see the Ellesmere Chaucer and Gutenberg Bible in the library, though she wasn’t very impressed. Her favorite thing by far was the Children’s Garden–and the ice cream she got at the end of the day.
